Abstract


The increasing population growth and the need for housing and places for social, economic, and cultural activities have an impact on land use. To determine this effect, in the Panasen Sub-watershed, Minahasa Regency, identification of changes in land cover was carried out. The purpose of the study was to identify changes and calculate the area of land cover in the Panasen sub-watershed using remote sensing methods. This research belongs to the type of descriptive qualitative where the problem-solving method is investigated by describing the state of the subject and object of research based on existing facts or what they are. The results showed the identification of land cover changes in 2014 and 2019, the land cover area in 2014, namely for Agriculture of 5,017 Ha with a percentage of 72%, Forests of 351 Ha with a percentage of 4%, Settlements of 252 Ha with a percentage of 3%, Rice fields of 1,005 Ha with a percentage of 21%. While the land cover area for 2019, namely for Agriculture of 560 Ha with a percentage of 6%, Forests of 351 Ha with a percentage of 4%, Settlements of 813 Ha with a percentage of 14%, Rice fields of 4,901 Ha with a percentage of 76%. It is known that the factors causing changes in agricultural land were converted into rice fields in 2014 - 2019 and rice fields were converted into residential land, due to urbanization, the land used was agricultural land, rice fields, and settlements. It is recommended that efforts to improve land cover conditions that occur from agricultural land to paddy fields are so large and become a concern for increasing residential land.
