Author Guidelines

1. Articles  written for Jurnal Episentrum include the research results in the field of geography and geography education as well as related field. The manuscript font format is Times New Roman, with size of11 pts, with 1 line spacing, printed on A4 paper with scale of 5-12 pages by line number on each page, and submitted no later than 7 months before publication in soft file with RTF (Rich Text Format). Article must be submitted through the ojs system.

2. The names of all authors of the article are listed without academic degrees and placed under the title of the article along with the correspondence e-mail, the name and the address of the institution where the research take place. In case of the article which is conducted by team, editor only correspondence with the main author or the author whose names are listed in the first line. Authors are required to include the e-mail address to facilitate communication. Article is written in Indonesian or English. Title, author's name and its affiliates listed on the first page of the article, followed with abstract consisting of 200 words and 3-5 key words. The sequence of the paper is the Title, Author, Affiliation, Abstract, Keywords.

3. The Article is written in Indonesian or English essay format, with title of each section of the article, except for the introduction is presented without any section headings. The title of the article is printed in capital letters with center paragraph formats, and font size of 14 points. The rank is expressed in the title section with different types of letters (all titles sections and sub-sections in bold or bold and italic), and refrain to use of numbers in the title section:

Rank I (CAPITALIZED FONT, BOLD, CENTER)

Rank 2 (Small and Capitalized Font, Bold, Align Left)

Rank 3 (Small and Capitalized, Bold-Italic, Align Left)

4. Systematic of research articles are: title; the author's name (without academic degree); abstract (maximum 250 words) that contains the objectives, methods, and research result; keywords; Introduction which contains the background, a little review of the literature, and research purposes; methods; the results; discussion; conclusions and suggestions; references (contain the references of the source).

5. References should be issued not more than last 10 years from the current year. References should be or preferably taken from research reports (including thesis (undergraduate), thesis, dissertation) or research articles in journals and scientific magazines.

6. Citation and Reference are written according to the APA (American Psychological Association) 6th edition style. The references shall be ordered based on alphabetical and chronological order. We recommend to use reference manager application such as Mendeley. Below are the example of References written according to the APA 6th edition style.

7. The Formats of quotations, references, tables, and images should follow the direction of Pedoman Penulisan Karya Ilmiah (Universitas Negeri Manado, 2018) or directly modeled on formats used in the articles that have been published. Articles in Indonesia using Pedoman Umum Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia yang disempurnakan (Depdikbud, 1987). Meanwhile, English-language articles using standard variety.

8. All manuscripts are reviewed anonymously by peer review whom selected by the editor based on their field of expertise. Authors of the articles are given the opportunity to make improvements (revision) on the manuscript based on the recommendations/suggestions from reviewer or editor. The decision of the manuscript being accepted or rejected will be notified by OJS.

9. Checking and editing of the test & trial of the articles will be done by the editor and the author. Articles that have been tested & trialed can be cancelled from publication by the editor if the articles are problematic.

10. Every single thing related to licensing of the citations, the use of computer software for the creation of the script or others which is related to IPR and conducted by authors of the article, and following the legal consequences that may arise therefore, it is sole responsibility of the author of the article.

11.The Authors are not being charged for any submitted and published articles in Jurnal Episentrum. The author will receive one copy of the published free of charge.  Articles that are not published will not be returned, except of the request from the author.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Authors are required to pay an Article Submission Fee as part of the submission process to contribute to review costs.

If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.
