Abstract

The development of mangrove ecosystem-based ecotourism plays a strategic role in supporting environmental conservation while empowering coastal communities. This study aims to assess the feasibility level of the Budo Village Mangrove Forest as a nature-based ecotourism destination. A descriptive quantitative method was applied using the ADO-ODTWA (Operational Area Analysis of Nature Tourism Objects and Attractions) approach. Data analysis uses weighted scoring, and is complemented by value conversion into a composite index to obtain an aggregate and standardized feasibility index. The results show that three out of four main components; attractiveness, accessibility, and infrastructure, scored above 80%, placing them in the “Worth Developing” category. Meanwhile, the surrounding area conditions component scored 66.67%, and was categorized as quite potential. The overall feasibility index of the site reached 81.91% based on the percentage of the maximum score, and 82.11% using the composite index approach. These findings indicate that the Budo Village Mangrove Forest qualifies as " Worth Developing " as an ecotourism destination. Therefore, ecotourism development in Budo Village is not just a potential option, but a strategic necessity for managing natural resources productively and sustainably. Future policies and plans must therefore focus on strengthening community capacity, legalizing harmonious spatial planning, and integrating sectors within the framework of conservation and local economic empowerment. This step is important not only to create competitive tourist destinations, but also as a commitment to the sustainability of coastal areas and the well-being of their communities.
