Efforts to Improve the Mathematics Learning Motivation of Class VIII Students of SMP Negeri 2 Lirung Using the Student Team Achevement Division Learning Model

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to describe an increase in students' motivation to learn mathematics with the STAD learning model in class VIII/2 students of SMP Negeri 2 Lirung in the first semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. This research is a Classroom Action Research, which consists of two cycles. Each cycle consisted of 2 meetings, with 27 students, namely: 9 male students and 18 female students. Data were collected through observation sheets, interviews, test results, documentation and daily notes. Observation results obtained data as follows: Cycle 1: there were 4 students (14.82%) got a score of 1 to 1.9 qualifications of low learning motivation, 6 students (22.22%) got a score of 2 to 2.5 qualifications of medium learning motivation, 17 students (62.96%) got a score of 2.6 to 3 high qualifications. Cycle 2: 1 student (3.70%) got a score of 1.83 with a low learning motivation qualification, 5 students (18.52%) got a score of 2 to 2.5 a moderate learning motivation qualification, and 21 students (77.78%) got a score of 2.6 to 3 qualifications of high learning motivation. In Cycle 2 there was an increase. Based on the explanation of the research results for each cycle, it can be concluded that the STAD learning model can be used as an alternative to increase the learning motivation of class VIII/2 students of SMP Negeri 2 Lirung.
