PKM PENGUATAN NILAI-NILAI TOLERANSI BAGI UMAT DI WILAYAH ROHANI ST. FAUSTINA PAROKI MARIA RATU DAMAI TOMOHON

Abstract

The reality today is that there are more and more actions that are indicative of the diversity that exists in Indonesia. Acts of intolerance committed by certain groups have tarnished the beauty of the diversity of the Indonesian nation which has been engraved in the motto Bhineka Tunggal Ika. The emergence of intolerance is caused by four factors, the first is sectarian religious views, the second is religious populism, and the third is politicians who use religion. And finally, namely the establishment of places of worship which are prohibited on religious grounds, giving rise to intolerance. Tolerance towards diversity is something that must be considered and guarded for the sake of the integrity of a nation and state. The occurrence of racial, interethnic, or religious conflicts. The decline of a nation and state because the government is difficult to develop policies. Lack of community participation in development. Obstructing development efforts and equitable distribution of facilities and infrastructure. If in people's lives there is no tolerance and mutual respect for differences, this can lead to divisions and no mutual trust or respect, which will result in conflict between communities. Indonesian citizens should be tolerant of religious differences that exist in society so that harmony between religions is realized. However, the reality is that in recent years the number of intolerances between religious communities has increased. The problems faced are: (1). Lack of public understanding of the values of tolerance. (2). More and more understanding of intolerance in society. (3). Lack of outreach about the values of tolerance, both by church leaders and community leaders. The solutions offered in this activity are socialization activities and training to strengthen tolerance values. This PKM produces outputs in the form of articles published in national journals.
