PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN BAHASA INGGRIS BERORIENTASI TOEFL BAGI GURU SMA NEGERI SE-KOTA TOMOHON

Abstract


TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is one of the main measuring tools that evaluates a person's ability to use and understand English as an academic language. In fact, the TOEFL certificate has not been seen as a must even though someone has been serving as a teacher for many years. Over time, the TOEFL is no longer an unfamiliar test, but has become a necessity. Not only English teachers, every teacher needs to have this proof.
The TOEFL-Oriented English proficiency improvement program for State Senior High School teachers will be implemented in one of the schools in Tomohon City which has an adequate capacity. the teachers were tested first with the TOEFL-Prediction. Then, the training is given in several sessions, according to the actual part of the TOEFL, gradually and sequentially, starting from the Listening Section, then Structure and Written Expression, and finally Reading. Evaluation is held after participants understand the learning. The assessment for each child is based on activeness during the learning process. In the 12th week, it is hoped that the evaluation target will be achieved. As a continuation of the PKM, the teachers will be responsible with their respective schools for the administration of the TOEFL. This TOEFL-Oriented English Competency Improvement activity is intended for 10 English teachers at SMAN 1 Tomohon and SMAN 2 Tomohon, as well as other interested teacher staff and students in preparation for international study scholarships. All English teachers at State Senior High Schools throughout the city of Tomohon are provided with TOEFL tutoring through TOEFL Prediction and also try out according to the TOEFL component as a preparation for the Official TOEFL for various academic interests.
